13-Year-Old Girl Uses Facebook to Save Romania’s Stray Dogs


Barely a teenager, Ana-Maria Ciulcu has done incredible work to rescue and rehome stray dogs in her city.

The city of Bucharest, Romania, has more than 60,000 stray dogs roaming the streets, and the government has begun an aggressive campaign of euthanization. But a brave 13-year-old girl is doing whatever she can—using the Internet and social media—to find homes for these dogs. Remarkably, Ana-Maria Ciulcu has been able to rescue 150 strays and ship them to Germany, Austria and Belgium. . .just since September!

It’s a remarkable story of a girl whose passion for saving dogs has led to International recognition. Go Ana-Maria!
