Today brings great news for those dog lovers following the story of Lily, the blind Great Dane, and her best pal and guide dog, Maddison. As we posted last week, the pair was in need of a new home after their owner gave them up for unspecified reasons. The fear was that it would be difficult to find someone willing to take not only one huge dog, but twoincluding one with a disability.
It turns out that the concern about the difficulty of placing Lily and Maddison was entirely unfounded. Astonishingly, some 2,000 offers to take the pair flooded into the shelter in Shrewsbury, England, where the big dogs were being housed. Over the weekend, the dogs found their new home with Anne and Len Williams, who live in Crewe, about 35 miles from the shelter. They had read about the plight of Lily and Maddison in The Daily Mail and immediately responded.
“We live in the countryside and I miss having a reason to go for a walkI can’t wait to take the dogs out with us. We’ve also got a lovely big garden so it’s the perfect setting for two huge dogs.”
