An Appeal to Protect California’s Model Shelter Law

Last month, we posted about how California Governor Jerry Brown’s dog, Sutter, has his own page on the official state website. Yesterday, political activist and former state senator Tom Hayden released a video calling on Governor Brown not to repeal the “Hayden Bill,” passed in 1998, which created a statewide policy preference for adoption and owner-redemption at all animal shelters. (You can read a summary of of the bill here.) It’s an important issue for those who believe that shelters should use euthanization as a last resort. If you feel strongly about this issue, you can sign Hayden’s petition.
