A monstrous sculpture of a Black Labrador outside the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach, California, is drawing lots of raised eyebrows. The 28-foot-tall artwork by Richard Jackson is titled “Bad Dog,” and for good reason. The huge pooch is raising his leg against the side of the building, emitting a stream of yellow paint. Although no one seems to be offended by the sculpture, there’s plenty of debate about what it’s message is: a playful look at natural dog behavior that we see as “bad?? A comment on the museum architecture?
Whatever it means, it certainly seems to celebrate the dog, who doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. I love it. What do you think?
