Labradoodle Mistaken for a Lion on the Loose Prompts 911 Calls

It’s not the kind of call a 911 dispatcher is accustomed to:

“I just saw an animal that looked like a small lion.” It had “the mange and everything,” a man said. He had seen it on Delaware Avenue near Llewellyn Avenue.

“I don’t know if it got away from the zoo, or what,” he said.

But, as it turned out, the caller—one of several that night—was describing a Labradoodle named Charles the Monarch, whose owners groom him to look like a lion. If you watch the videos below, you can certainly understand how, in the dark, you’d think he was a big cat. And the prospect of a man-eater roaming your hometown has got to be a bit disconcerting.
