For the fourth time in the history of the Westminster Kennel Club Annual Dog Show, a Pekingese has taken top honors. This year’s winner is Malachy, a 4-year-old Pekingese who was ranked the number 2 dog in the country going into the big event. The number 1 ranked dog, a black cocker spaniel named Beckham, was upset earlier in the day when he did not win his breed.
Last night’s win was Malachy’s 115th “Best in Show,” and he had come in second in last year’s WKC competition. Malachy triumphed over a final group that included Emily, an Irish setter; Chelsey, a Kerry blue terrier; and Fifi, a Doberman.
