Here’s an amazing story of how a network of friends, acquaintances, and Internet communities combined to reunite a lost dog and his wandering owner. When Rusty Reed’s beloved malamute-shepherd mix, Timber, slipped his collar on July, the retired vet scoured the local wilderness for three days. Unfortunately, smoke from a nearby wildfire made staying in the area impossible, so Reed had to leave Timber behind. He thought he’d never see the dog again. But then fate intervened. . .

It’s a complex story that involves many people coming together to reunite the pair. Only one of those involved had ever even met Reed, but they didn’t think twice about pitching in to bring the dog home.
