Last week, we posted about a dramatic rescue of a German shepherd who had been left on a mountain in Colorado for eight days, without food or water. Remarkably, the person who had left the dog there, Anthony Ortolani, stepped forward to claim her. He said that he had assumed that Missy had died, so he hadn’t returned to get her. Those who did brave the elements to rescue the dog, don’t buy that excuse. Nor does the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office, which has charged Ortolani with animal cruelty.
Ortolani says he wants the dog back, but Clear Creek Animal Control says he can’t have her, at least until their investigation is done. Scott Washburnthe man who initially found Missy and posted her pictures onlineand several members of the team who actually rescued her have all expressed their desire to adopt the dog. Let’s hope she ends up in the right place.
