Here’s a short trailer for a documentary that will first air on HBO on June 18 (and then several times therafter). “One Nation Under Dog: Stories of Fear, Loss & Betrayal” investigates the passionate and complex relationships that many Americans have with their dogs:
The film looks at America’s obsession with dogs, how far individuals will go for their pets and what it will take for people across the country to treat all dogs humanely.
The 73-minute documentary looks at the odds stacked against shelter dogs, spay and neuter education, puppy mills, dog bite victims and how some owners respond when their dog attacks.
HBO has a long history of fine documentary work, so I would expect this film to be in-depth and provocative, steering clear of cliches and easy answers. I’m looking forward to it.
