Here’s a woman with an interesting idea that’s sure to start a conversation. Katherine Long, a graduate student in New York City is experimenting with a “Rent-a-Dog” stand in Central Park, in which folks can walk or play with a dog for 20 minutes for just $5. All the money raised goes to local dog shelters, and Long raised more than $100 in her first attempt.
Although the news stories don’t address Long’s future plans except to say that this was a “test run,” one assumes that the ultimate goal would be to rent shelter dogs in hopes of finding them new homes.
What do you think? Long’s heart is obviously in the right place, but is this a viable way to go about raising money or rehoming shelter dogs?
