Comedian Ricky Gervais Joins Campaign to Stop Chinese Dog-Meat Trade


Ricky Gervais is famous for making people laugh, but the comedian’s latest project is dead serious. He has urged his nearly 9 million followers to sign a petition to stop the annual Yulin Dog Meat Eating Festival, which begins next week in China. According to the Change.org petition,

Countless Canine Lives will be sacrificed in order to fulfill a barbaric tradition that has been permitted to occur for many years – and it is now time this horror is finally put to an end.

The petition has already been signed by almost 690,000 people, and organizers are hoping to hit 1 million.
