We’ve posted before about dogs who remain loyal, even after their owner’s die, and this is another touching tale of dedication. After Bhaskar Shri, 18, was killed in a car accident early this month in India, his dog, Tommy, disappeared. The pair had been inseparable since Bhaskar had adopted the dog five years earlier.

After Bhaskar was buried, Tommy reappeared at the grave and refused to leave. Finally, Dawn Williams, a woman working with the Blue Cross of India decided to help the poor dog:

“I could see he was in a disturbed condition. He was famished and I’m certain he had tears in his eyes,” she said. “I gave him water and biscuits but he refused to move. Then, with my teammates, I walked around the area and asked locals if they knew the dog. They told me the dog was called Tommy and he was guarding his owner’s grave.”

By working with Bhaskar’s bereaved mother, Williams was eventually able to help both mourners.
