The prevalence of smartphone have brought us to the point where folks are absolutely frustrated if they don’t have all the information they need at their fingertips, which has led to companies devising new ways to get us that info we desperately crave. A new app called Where My Dogs At attempts to offer Los Angeles dog owners new ways of interacting with their surroundings:
The free Where My Dogs At app lets you find the best restaurants, parks, pet stores, vets, hotels and apartment buildings for you and your best friend. Forget checking-in– “mark your territory” to share your adventures.
As you explore, you’ll make plenty of connections, human and canine alike. Follow people and dogs, send messages and sniff around. Our mission is simple: to improve the lives of dogs and their owners everywhere.
From what I can tell, the app seeks to model itself on Facebook, in that it’s free for users, but businesses will be able to advertise to you on the site. Is that a worthy trade-off? I guess that’s up to each user. One can only assume that if the project is successful in Los Angeles, it will be rolled out to other cities in the near future.
