Slideshows: Wonderful Dog Costumes from Two New York Halloween Parades!

Because Halloween occurs midweek, last weekend was the time for big costume parades, especially for dogs. New York played host to at least two such events: the 23rd Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade on Manhattan, and the decidedly more homey 15th Annual Great PUPkin in Brooklyn. Photographers from Vanity Fair attended the fancier party, and produced a gorgeous slideshow of the best costumes.

Out in Brooklyn, they had to make do with a reporter from Gothamist, a website, and her less than spectacular photos. The lack of glamour in the Gothamist images, however, is more than made up for by the ingenious costumes and cute dogs.

I find both slideshows to be full of surprises.

  1. An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a colleague who has been doing a little research on this. And he in fact ordered me lunch simply because I found it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending time to discuss this issue here on your blog.
