Here’s an incredible story from Thailand: A two-year-old Bangkaew—a native Thai breed—named Pui found an infant that had been left in a plastic bag in a roadside dump. Pui carried the bag back to his home and barked loudly until his family’s daughter came out to see what he was so excited about:
She opened it and was shocked to find a newborn baby with its umbilical cord still attached. It was clearly very weak and she ran to get her mum, Pummarat, and her father, Kummerd. The parents rushed the baby to the Tha Tua Hospital.
Doctors discovered that the little girl had been delivered prematurely, and the search is on to find the mother. It is clear to everyone involved that the child would not had survived were it not for Pui’s efforts. He was awarded a leather collar and a certificate from his local Red Cross office, and the family was given 10000 Thai Baht (about $330) to help feed their dogs.
