On May 5th, Orvis New York City at 489 5th Ave. will host a Meet the Author event with Gwen Huneck. Mrs. Huneck continues the legacy of her late husband, New York Times bestselling author and artist Stephen Huneck, with the digital work, Sally Discovers New York. It is the second title in the “Sally Discovers Series” and the eleventh title in the award-winning series about the adventures of an irrepressible Labrador retriever.
On her latest sojourn Sally and her classmates head out from Dog Mountain School in Vermont to travel to New York City, where they discover the Statue of Liberty and visit some of the world’s finest parks and museums. Striking out on her own, Sally finds her way to the dog-friendly Orvis store on 5th Avenue, and tries out a cozy bed. Reunited with her classmates, she hops on the bus to head back home after another exciting adventure. Told from a dog’s point of view and illustrated with Huneck’s woodcut prints, this charming story captures an innocence and optimism that every dog lover is sure to recognize.
