Barrett is a 2-year-old Pit Bull mix, a champion snuggle-bunny and, until recently, was a staff favorite at the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in Ottawa, KS. That changed the day his new “Mom” showed up at the shelter.
She had another dog who had recently lost his best friend and, with it, his zest for life. She brought the dog to the shelter for a meet and greet, hoping to find a replacement and a cure for her pet’s depression. Barrett was the perfect antidote! As soon as he came out, the depressed dog made a complete turnaround, wagging his tail and barking joyfully! The pair was taken to the play yard, where they bonded instantly! Play bowing, tail-wagging, chasing and full-on playtime ensued. It was as if they had known each other forever!
Barrett got a new family, including a now-happy canine brother, and a new home with plenty of room to run and play. Orvis thanks its customers for their generous support of its Customer Matching Grant to the Petfinder Foundation, which makes happy ending like this possible. Congratulations to Barrett and his new family, and may 2016 be filled with similar happy tails!
