Pit Bull Puppy Acts as Guide Dog for His Blind Brother, as the Pair Waits for a Forever Home

Two years ago, in one of the more popular stories we’ve published, we told Orvis Dogs readers about two Great Danes named Lilly and Maddison. Lilly had gone blind, so Maddison stepped in to be her guide dog. Here’s a very similar situation in Philadelphia, but in this case, the dogs are Pit Bulls, siblings, and former strays.

Back in September, Jeffrey and Jermaine were found wandering the streets of the City of Brotherly Love, having been abandoned. Animal welfare workers in the shelter where the boys were brought found it remarkable the way that Jermaine led his blind brother around, using gentle physical contact.

Now eight months old, the pair are living at the Operation Ava no-kill animal shelter, waiting for a new home. Of course they can’t be separated, which makes finding them a forever home that much more challenging.
