Super Bowl, Schmuper Bowl. Get Ready for Two Great Dog Bowl Games

The Ravens and the Forty-Niners kickoff at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, but some of us will have already seen a couple of great games. Just before the big football game, check out Puppy Bowl IX. Here’s the description from the Animal Planet website:

The biggest event on all fours is back! Puppy Bowl returns for its ninth consecutive year with an all-star, all-adorable cast that’s ready to mix it up on the grand gridiron of Animal Planet Stadium. Puppy Bowl IX brings viewers a loveable lineup that’s itching to play in a winning combination of terrier tackles, touchdowns, puppy penalties, fumbles and Fido first downs. Featuring fan favorites like the Water Bowl Cam, tail-gating fans, and the hamster-steered blimp, this year’s big game is sure to be a tail-wagger. For the first time ever, viewers can see slow motion replays with the new Cute Cam. And be on the lookout for the hedgehog cheerleaders. Also, don’t miss the debut of the puppy hot tub, where puppy players can cool down after tearing up the field. From barking beagles and spunky spaniels to everything in between, we’ve got the cutest players taking the field on the most action-packed Sunday of the year. Plus, back for another year is the popular Bissel Kitten Halftime Show, guaranteed to bring the house down! And, sideline reporter “Meep the Bird” will return to tweet live updates throughout the game. Follow @MeepTheBird on game day for the latest news, puppy penalties and behind-the-scenes moments from inside the stadium.

This sounds like a really fun event, but it’s not the only dog-centric Sunday spectacular. The Bill Foundation, which we know from so many great Eldad Hagar videos, is hosting the first annual Rescue Bowl:

Here’s how it will work: Two teams of Bill Foundation dogs will compete. Shelter dogs vs. Street dogs with a total of 20-25 dogs are expected to “play” LOL!

Some of our lovely dog-ladies will also be dressed as the sideline cheerleaders!

As for the halftime show? Well, that’s a BIG surprise! But expect to see one of our most famous celebrity spokes-pups!

Viewing the event is 100% free to all! Viewers will also have the chance to VOTE for their favorite team by donating $5 directly through the paypal button on our ustream page. All donations will go directly towards helping us continue rescuing dogs from dire situations, provide them with whatever care they need and finding them incredible forever homes.

We will announce the winning team, aka “The Under Dogs”, on Monday morning via facebook.
