Stetson was one of those dogs that shelter workers worry about: he was adopted and then returned to the shelter because he was unruly, skittish, and ran away a lot. Oftentimes, these dogs never find a suitable forever home. But lucky for him, he was saved from the needle by a San Diego-based Labrador rescue, which determined that he would make a good search-and-rescue dog. In the last five years, while working for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, he has searched for automobile victims and helped find earthquake victims in Nepal. Thin of what would have been lost had he not been rescued!
