Sign the Petition Calling for Tougher Laws Against Leaving Dogs in Hot Cars

The moving story above comes from Dr. Jules Benson, who is the Chief Veterinary Medical Officer for a company called Petplan, which sells pet insurance. Dr. Benson’s experience was the impetus for a petition drive on the whitehouse.gov website, calling on the current administration “to encourage all 50 states to enact laws prohibiting animals from being left unattended in cars, exposing them to dangerously hot or cold temperatures.”

Currently, only 15 states (!) have laws against leaving an animal in a confined vehicle in hot weather, but this is clearly a national problem. There’s less than a week to get the necessary signatures, so please spread the word!

  1. The warnings of leaving dogs locked in parked cars have gone unheard……..punishment is the only way to get this message across to the dumb, stupid and ignorant people out there.
