We’ve already posted a couple times about the epidemic of canine flu which seems centered around Chicago, but may spread farther afield. (See previous posts here and here.) An article on PetMD offers the latest information on the flu strain and its effects. Dr. Jennifer Coates offers one chilling opinion:
This new information complicates matters. Some of the tests commonly used identify flu infections in dogs will not pick up the H3N2 virus, which makes me suspect that this outbreak is even bigger than it appears to be.
If you live in the Midwest, think about minimizing your dog’s exposure to other dogs.
