Unconditional Stories #3: Laci and Sister Electra

By now, you’re accustomed to seeing the wonderful photographs of older dogs by Jane Sobel Klonsky, which are part of her Project Unconditional. Jane’s daughter, Kacey, has been making short films that focus on her mom’s subjects. (See Laura and Ol’ Red and Walter and Mary.) The latest video in the series looks at a retired nun and her best friend:

Sister Electa is 84 yrs. old and has lived in the Carmelite Monastery in San Diego since she was 18. Her service dog Laci, trained by TLCAD, is 11 now and has been her companion and dear friend for 9 1/2 yrs. “Laci has added years to my life. This is a cloistered monastery so we don’t usually go out unless we have some reason. Well, walking the dog was the reason.. So we made friends in the neighborhood. She has made friends all over the place. She’s sort of ‘Queen of Hawley Blvd.’”

It’s a match made in heaven.
