Back in August, we told you the story of Lady, an elderly Black Lab who had walked thirty miles to return to the family in Kansas who had given her away. Lady ended up in the lap of luxury, adopted by Helen Rich, an heiress to the Wrigley Gum fortune who lives in Florida. A wonderful story in the Tamp Tribune follows up, with a look at how Lady is doing now as part of Rich’s family:
Lady now leads a fairly idyllic life. She wakes up at about 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. with Rich and the other house pets. She goes outside with the few other house dogs, including two German shepherds, two chihuahuas and a blind rat terrier named Jill.
Lady goes everywhere Rich goes, including the bedroom, office, kitchen and horse stables. When Rich travels to a horse show, she takes a camper and Lady comes along. When she flies to her California home, Lady is on board.
It’s great stuff.
