We don’t often post job openings here on the Orvis Dogs blog, but our local shelter in Shaftsbury, Vermont—which Orvis helps to support with an annual grant—is looking for an executive director. Many of the people in this building have rescued dogs from Second Chance Animal Center. Betty, shown above, belongs to one of our Human Resources specialists, Nicol.

Second Chance Animal Center – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Second Chance Animal Center, serving the needs of Southwestern Vermont for more than 50 years, is seeking an Executive Director. We are a limited admission shelter, offering many services to the community including adoptions, spay/neuter assistance, humane education and animal advocacy.Join this financially secure organization during one of the most exciting times in our history! We are building a new facility and launching a capital campaign. Construction on our new facility will begin in the near future.
Candidates, your experience in leading an animal shelter is a plus, but we are focused on finding a leader with solid business experience and an ability to foster key relationships with donors and community leaders and help direct our capital campaign.
Commitment to our mission is a must.
