In an all-too-familiar scenarion, animal rescuers discovered 26 dogs living in deplorable conditions at a home in Plant City, Florida. Many of the dogs were badly injured and required immediate veterinary attention. It will be a long road back to recovery.
One thing that really caught my eye was the photo below, of a beautiful pit bull smiling beatifically, as if it understands that its torment is over. The image is both heartbreaking and hopeful.
