Video: Bat Dog Miss Babe Ruth Retires After 649 Consecutive Games


A few weeks ago, we posted a wonderful short documentary about a family of “bat dogs” working with the Trenton Thunder baseball team. Last night, another bat dog was celebrated for an incredible streak of consecutive games that makes her the canine Cal Ripken, Jr. Miss Babe Ruth of Greensboro, N.C., a Black Labrador Retriever, has worked for the Class A Greensboro Grasshoppers since 2006, appearing in an astonishing 649 games in a row. Last night, the team held an event in her honor, and she will work her final game on Wednesday night. What a remarkable run for a wonderful performer! We wish Miss Babe a comfortable retirement.
