When people first saw the animal near the Detroit City Airport on Tuesday, they had a hard time identifying exactly what kind of animal it was. When they realized that it was a stray dog in dire need of help, Good Samaritans took the poor pup to Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital. The transformation in the dog, now called Dakota, is incredible:
“I think we were able to shave two pounds of fur, fecal material and dirt off his body,” said Dr. Stephanie Bagwell of Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital.
The folks at Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption are using Dakota to make a plea to anyone who has a dog that they can no longer care for. Instead of simply abandoning the dog, owners in trouble can go to a shelter and get help, no questions asked.
