Video: Family Gives Dog a Loving Home for However Long She Has Left

This is a beautiful, heartwarming story, even though it is sure to have a sad ending. Rio was already in a shelter when she survived Superstorm Sandy last fall, and she was flown to The Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, California, in hopes that she could find a home there. Unfortunately, an examination at the new shelter revealed that Rio suffers from terminal cancer. That would make her unadoptable, right?

Wrong, as you’ll see in the video above. When the shelter sent out a call looking for someone to take Rio, they received applications from around the country. But it was a family in nearby La Mesa who will take her home. No one knows how muhc time Rio has left, but we can be sure that those days will be happy and filled with love.
