Here’s a sweet story from California, with a happy ending. When Joey turned up at San Bernardino County’s Devore Animal Shelter, he was a unique case: missing his right front and left rear legs, he might have been a difficult dog to rehome. But after the spunky little Chihuahua was featured on the local news, offers to adopt Joey flooded in. The eventual winner of the “Joey lottery” was Doug Smith, a shelter worker:

Smith said that when his 13-year-old daughter, Rodri, saw a local news broadcast about the dog, “she had to come up to the shelter and see the dog and then she fell in love with him.”

Joey is sure to find a lot of love in his new home!
