When Linda Park’s neighbor told her that her beloved Golden Retriever, Dakota, had fallen through the ice of nearby Little Ossipee Lake, in southern Maine, she ran down to help. When it became clear that this rescue was beyond her, she called in the professionals: the Waterboro Fire Department. By the time the firefighters arrived, Dakota was tired, cold, and in danger of slipping below the ice. Using ice suits and specialized equipment, the firefighters were able to reunite Park and her best friend.
