We have posted many times about the hazards of flying with dogs: long hours in a kennel, worries about dehydration and overheating, etc. But here’s a heartwarming story that might offer a countrpoint. An Air Canada pilot actually diverted a flight to ensure the safety of a dog, after the heating system in the cargo hold failed. It would have been very easy for the pilot to make the argument that the cost and incovenience to the passengers didn’t warrant the diversion, but he considered himself responsible for all lives on board. Bravo!
