We have posted before about how dogs can be trained to work with diabetic people to alert them when their blood sugar gets too low or too high. But here’s a remarkable story about a foster dog, with no prior alert training, who recognized that a 4-year-old boy was suffering from dangerously low blood sugar. TatorTot the Pit Bull had been at his foster home for just a few days when he repaid the Smith family for their kindness. Amazingly, TatorTot had been scheduled for euthanasia at Minneapolis Animal Care and Control when Christi Smith rescued him with just hours to spare.
