We post often about the incredible bravery and loyalty of military working dogs (MWD), and here’s a touching story of one community who repaid that service in kind. Canvas the Black Labrador Retriever served in Afghanistan with Russ Moseley, and the pair was injured together by a hidden bomb. After she retired, Canvas was reunited with Mosely, and she enjoyed two years in a loving home in Louisiana. Sadly, however, her war wounds caused a sharp decline in her quality of life, and the Moseleys were forced to make the difficult decision to free Canvas from her suffering.
The remarkable send-off Canvas received was a fitting tribute to her life and work.
