Even though they knew it would end in heartbreak, volunteers at Houston Street Dogs Rescue took in a terminally ill dog named King and have been working to make his last days full of love and pleasure he may never have known in his life:
“We have organizations like Make-a-Wish for humans that are living out their lives with terminal diseases, but we don’t really any equivalent for dogs,” she said. “I wanted to help him know love and die happy.”
It takes an unbelievably caring person to willingly put themselves in a position we all dread with our own dogs.
