Video: Former Marine Fears that His Untrained “Therapy Dog” Will Be Euthanized

Here’s a sad story that highlights the problems that can result from the use of untrained “therapy” dogs. There’s no doubt that former marine Tyler Kelly gets comfort from his Alaskan Malamute / Husky mix, Thor, but local authorities say that the dog attacked nearby farm animals. We all want the help that compassionate dogs can offer, but situations like this put authorities in a very tough position. One wonders if things would be different if Thor had received proper training. No one wants to see Thor put down, and we hope that another solution can be found.

  1. Hmmmm. “In addition to PTSD, Kelly has Bi-Polar Disorder and a kidney disease — all discovered while he was training for the Marines in boot camp in 2013.” This sounds like he didn’t even finish boot camp. PTSD from boot camp? Marine?
