Here’s a story from right here in Vermont that features a happy ending. Way back in 2014, Ed Hamel’s granddaughter had a car accident with Hamel’s Golden Retriever, Murphy, in the car. After the crash, Murphy ran off into the Vermont woods and could not be found. For more than 500 days, Murphy was on the lam, and local residents in Waterbury Center tried several times to capture him. But he is an ingenious pup, and it took something really special to nab him. But now he is back in his loving home and seems to be very happy about it. . .
