When you have no pancakes for breakfast. . . .

Here’s a beautiful video posted on the Facebook page of Granite Hills Animal care in Elberton, Georgia. In the clip, Dr. Andy Mathis sits with Graycie, a stray who had been found on a dirt road out in the country and brought to the facility. She was in such bad shape that Dr. Mathis thought he might have to euthanize her, but something gave him pause:
I posted on facebook for advice. . . I told my friends,”Y’all, I need your advice. Practical Me says I should put her to sleep, but Veterinarian Me wants to try and give her a chance.”
They responded, “Try” Especially, if she still has a will to live. Try.
Try he did, and a remarkable team at the University of Georgia performed necessary surgeries, others started a fundraising page, and now she is back at the shelter. Although Graycie had been eating, she wasn’t comfortable doing in the presence of any humans. So, in the video above, Dr. Mathis climbs into Graycie’s cage to share breakfast with her to help her learn to trust again.
