A volunteer deputy acted quickly and decisively when presented with a burning car outside a dog show in Chesapeake, Virginia, on Saturday. Master Deputy Wayne Spencer reached into the smoke-filled vehicle and pulled out Lemon Chiffon, a 10-month-old English Mastiff. The dog’s owner, Christina Neff, is forever grateful. “I was thinking, ‘oh my god, my dog’s dead,’” said Neff.Deputy Spencer and two other deputies were honored for their bravery by the attendees at the dog show. Now that’s what I call “public service.”
