A dramatic rescue in the middle of San Francisco Bay on Monday combined the efforts of a group of windsurfers and a businessman who commutes to work by boat. On his way home to Berkeley in a motorized inflatable boat, Adam Cohen came across the windsurfers with their sails down and a dog standing on one of the boards. They had found the poor Cane Corso swimming far from land.
Veterinarians say that the water is too cold for the dog to have swum so far out, so she must have fallen or been thrown from a boat. No one knows who her owner is or how she ended up so far from land. For now, she is is good health and living with the Cohens.
