Maggie, a Kelpie from Australia, passed away peacefully in her basket on Monday evening. What makes this story particularly amazing is that she may have been as old as 30, which would make her the world’s oldest dog. Unfortunately, Maggie’s owner, Brian McLaren, has no proof of Maggie’s age, but he claims that the family got her as a puppy when his sone was four years old. Liam McLaren is now 34. The world’s oldest verified dog was an Australian Cattle Dog called Bluey, who died in 1939 at the age of 29.

Even if she wasn’t as old as McLaren thinks she is, she was by all accounts a great companion. Sleep well, old girl.
