Once the holidays are over, it will be time to think about which fly-fishing consumer shows you want to attend. As it has for the last few years, show season kicks off in Denver, two weeks in a row! January is jam-packed with events, from New Jersey to Alberta and from Massachusetts to Northern California. Folks in the Midwest have to wait until February, but then there are two in March, just in time to get you stoked for Opening Day.
So find the show nearest you (or the big one you’re willing to travel to) and mark your calendar. Spending two or three days checking out new products, fondling tying materials, or watching one of your heroes on the casting pond is a great way to beat the winter blues. These shows are also great places to check out the new Orvis stuff, such as the Hydros SL Reel, Pivot Wading Boot, and Superstrong Plus Tippet. If you’ve never been to one of these events, check out the video above, which captures the experience of the Somerset, New Jersey show and even offers a bit of Lefty’s presentation.
