Orvis Fly Fishing App Now Available in the Android Store!

Ok! Finally… ‘Droid users, you can now stop the emails and Facebook posts that simply say “ANDROID!!”

My friends at Green Mountain Digital submitted the Orvis Fly Fishing App to the Android store for Android version 2.1 and 2.2 last night and it is now available for download. Go to the Android store and search for ORVIS.

It was worth waiting for:
  • Animated knot instruction
  • Fly casting video instruction
  • Top 10 fly casting mistakes (I’ve made most of them at one time or another)
  • A field guide to the top 100 trout flies
  • LIVE Orvis fishing reports from around the country
  • A glossary of terms
  • AND the Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast
All of this at your fingertips! So go to the Android store, check it out and let me what you think.
My turn: ANDROID!!

    1. Hi Tom, thanks for reaching out to us with your question. We have offered an Orvis App since 2011 with many satisfied users. Given the increase in the use of mobile websites, we have decided to put our resources into our mobile site rather than the app version. The new Orvis mobile site includes all the popular elements of the app, including fishing reports, podcasts, animated knots, and the entire Orvis Learning Center in a much more user-friendly interface.

Unfortunately, we will no longer maintain and support the app. We want to extend our apologies to our customers who used the app like you and we’re sorry to have to pull the plug on it. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. However, we think you will find the learning features on our mobile site to be far more useful and user-friendly, with more features to come in the future!

      1. Good morning Mr. Monahan,
I was looking for the Orvis Fly Fishing App yesterday to reinstall it onto my phone, only to find out it no longer exists.

Using the mobile site, is all well and good, but what happens when you find yourself in an area with no mobile coverage, and you want to refer to a podcast or other tidbit of information. On an iPod I used to carry exclusively for that purpose, in my fishing kit, I had downloaded all of Tom’s podcasts and was referring to it whenever I needed to remind myself on a knot or two. Especially when I was in a no mobile coverage area.

Perhaps you have already thought of that. I hope it can work for me as well. But your old App will be sorely missed, as it was a great tool.

        Thank you for your time.

  1. Would have been nice for a message much earlier. I’ve been checking for a few months looking for it. I think you charged me $10 for it too. Another reason Orvis is at the bottom of my list for fly fishing gear suppliers. You’re certainly not a customer focused company.
