This week, we wanted to shine the light on two opportunities for folks with extremely different skill sets. The first is for someone to join the Orvis Travel team, which is kind of like a Dream Job if you enjoy helping people plan incredible vacations and leading the occasional trip yourself. The second is for a Web Developer and is perfect for a tech-savvy person who also loves the outdoors and wants to live in a beautiful part of the Northeast. 1. Sporting Travel Planner

Orvis Travel has a job opening for a travel planner, someone with a passion for fly fishing, a knowledge of international travel based on personal experience, and a natural desire to help others plan the trip of a lifetime to places like Alaska, Patagonia, and The Bahamas. Work with Orvis Travel’s professional team in our beautiful home office in Vermont. Requirements include a professional background related to international sporting travel, plus the organizational skills to stay on top of multiple projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in direct customer sales on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and update tour itineraries and planning material.
  • Coordinate arrangements with vendors in relation to specific group and individual travel.
  • Ensure accuracy of sales information on Orvis.com/travel and update in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate in development of new trips and inspect lodges seeking an Orvis endorsement.
  • Lead group trips to international destinations.

2. Web Developer

The Web Developer will join the E-commerce team to develop, design, and program new Web sites and features, as well as to troubleshoot and maintain existing software. The position will also collaborate with external consultants on various website projects. Primary technologies are Microsoft based .Net tools: Visual Studio, VB.Net, SQL-Server.
