Blog reader P.J. Filipowicz (who is also editor of TheRockyRiver.com) sent in this great picture of a fish that represents the potential of a Great Lakes steelhead:
Hey anybody can catch a steelhead, but how many anglers have landed a baby steelhead! This steelhead smolt was landed by accident, in the Rocky River in Ohio. I caught two on back-to-back casts on a small white hair streamer, while we were out targeting Lake Erie-run smallmouths in late May. The tiny steelhead were very carefully landed and released. Next year, they should return from Lake Erie and already weigh several pounds.
