A couple weeks a go, we posted about some switch-rod testing down at the office pond. Well, it turns out that this kind of thing is a regular occurrence around here. This morning, the Orvis rod-design team brought some test models of the new Superfine Touch series out on the lawn at Orvis HQ for Vice Chairman Dave Perkins to test. A complete redesign of the old Superfine series, these new rods are designed for precision casting, even at close range. They sport an un-sanded, spiral-wrap charcoal blank, orange wraps with gold tipping, and titanium nitrate guides. Based on all the smiles from the testers, the rod shop has these tapers and designs dialed in just right. The Superfine Touch rods will be rolled out in two phases, starting in January, with a second release in spring.
