Today, Waterline Media released a video called “Riding High: The Science of Tarpon,” which features footage that will be included in the science section of the group’s upcoming full-length feature on tarpon. This segment deals with the ongoing tarpon satellite-tagging programs, which are a very important conservation tool that is just beginning to show it’s true potential for the preservation of migration and spawning habitats for tarpon—not only in our local waters but worldwide.

You’ll see a few faces familiar to OrvisNews.com regulars—such as Florida guide David Mangum and Orvis’s Steve Hemkens—but the real star is Dr, Jerry Ault of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, who explains how a ground-breaking collaboration between sportfishermen and scientists will yield a wealth of data that will help us ensure the future of our tarpon stocks.
