Utah-based photographer Ian Provowhom you might remember from the “Steelhead and Spines” expeditionwas recently hired to photograph the Riverbend Ranch, an incredible (and incredibly pricey) property for sale in Utah, which is going up for auction this Friday. We don’t care about the real estate, but that fish above certainly caught our eye, and we wanted to know more. It turns out that, while Ian was hired by the auction company, he didn’t miss the opportunities provided by such a job:
It’s a fly fisherman’s dream home, with multiple trout ponds and a beautiful freestone stream in the backyard with wild cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout exceeding 2 feet in length. When I got the job, I knew that it would be important to document the quality of fishing on the property, so when we weren’t shooting, we were fishing. My first cast with a stonefly through the “backyard hole” got stuck on a 24-inch rainbow, less than 30 feet away from the kitchen table.
It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.
