Angling Art: “Along the Delaware, Spring” by Galen Mercer

“Along the Delaware, Spring,” Oil on Canvas, 2013
by Galen Mercer

Artist Galen Mercer lives along the Battenkill in West Arlington, Vermont. Canadian by birth, he’s the grandson of two painters and the son of another, so it’s kind of in his blood. Here’s what he had to say about this painting:

I first fished this pool with my father in the mid 70’s and it’s changed little, a real rarity in the Catskills. The water here is broad and open and mature sycamores (which I always think of as ‘river trees’) line the banks. It’s a wonderful place to lose yourself.

You can see lots more of Galen’s art, including great landscapes and nature scenes, at the Galen Mercer Sporting and Fine Art website.
