A couple weeks ago, we launched a sweepstakes to celebrate the arrival of the new two-handed Helios 2 switch rod models. Well, after more than 3,600 entries, we have a randomly selected winner: Janell Chandler of Vancouver, Washington. We asked Janell for a short description of her fishing life:
I hadn’t fished in years, but Chaz, my boyfriend, is a lover of fly fishing and gets out to the local rivers and streams as often as he can. I was excited to add another outdoor passion to my list, so I bought waders and boots this spring, and Chaz and I trekked out to the Deschutes to spend the day fishing, together, or so I thought. The day started out with a quick lesson on the basics of fly fishing (proper casting, careful wading, how not to scare the fish away, etc). Within a few minutes of casting I had a large trout hooked! I was pretty excited and thought, “Wow, maybe I still have a knack for catching fish!” ….until five hours later when I resorted to singing my childhood fish song, hoping it would lure them to bite to give me a little excitement.
Hoping for a better experience next time, Chaz and I have a trip planned to fish for steelhead on the Nehalem River…in a boat, with a guide. I will be using the Helios 2 Switch Rod from The Orvis Company on this trip.
Congratulations to Janell, and thanks to all who participated.
Congrats!!
can I borrow your rod?
Wish I could convince my wife to come fishing with me. Hope she enjoys the new rod!
